Auchentoshan 12 Years

Replacing the now extinct 10 year old is this sumptiously packaged 12 year old version of the triple-distilled Lowland. Happily they’ve improved on the 10, being richer, spicier and with more sherry influence.

Auchentoshan 21 Years

A deliciously smooth, mellow long-aged Auchentoshan. A sophisticated and well-balanced dram to savour slowly after a good meal.

Balvenie 12 Year Old Doublewood

Sweet fruit and Oloroso sherry notes, layered with honey and vanilla.

Taste: A smooth and mellow single malt of beautifully combined flavours — nutty sweetness, cinnamon spiciness and a delicately proportioned layer of sherry — with a long and warmi

Bowmore 12 Years

This is a new packaging of the islay’s ‘medium-peated’ malt. It has a clear iodine character with lots of pepper and yet the malt is balanced and smooth as well as smoky.

Bunnahabhain 12 Years

A very lightly-peated malt that serves as perhaps the mildest introduction to the Islay style. Floral and fruity tones dominate with the peat influence in the background. The main base for the splendid ‘Black Bottle’ blend. Gentle and smooth with…

Caol Ila 18 Years

Extra ageing has calmed the impact of the phenols, with the peat arriving on the palate late, and tempered by smooth oak. A very mellow, mature Islay malt.

Dalwhinnie 15 Years

Strikingly clean flavours. Salt and malt in the nose. Clear Highland malt character with subtle peatiness. Aromatic. Delicately spicy. Unshakeable grass– and grain-type vegetative associations: cut grass, wheat, fields of grain. Refreshing.

A good introduction to the delights of single…

Glengoyne 12 Years

Nose

A little faded with touches of autumn leaves, bung cloth, unripe mango, (bread crust on a Scottish plain loaf). Alcohol in balance. With water there’s more overt oak and a hint of condensed milk.

Palate

Dense and full but…

Lagavulin 16 Years

Lagavulin takes its water from the Solum Lochs, contributing some of the whisky’s peatiness. Malt peated with 35ppm of phenolic flavour compounds passes this flavour into the spirit. The malt is ground, washed several times with hot water which is…
