Yamazaki 1995, Bot. 2010, Cask No. 5J3020
Exclusive for La Maison Du Whisky
Nose: haunting, rich. There is first of all beautiful woody (wax, varnish, upholstery, leather, walnut). Then place the fruit (strawberries, cherries in brandy, blood orange). Finally, it is around spices come into play (cinnamon, cumin and paprika). Gourmets will appreciate the gourmet evocations he suggests: creme brulee, apple tart, chocolate pear. Taste: intense, nervous. Like a torrent, it pours a flood of spices (cardamom, pink pepper), wild mint, stewed fruit (apricot, plum, peach), fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry) and exotic (guava, persimmon, mango) . Free of artifice, a short time, a note referring oxidation an old sherry vinegar heightens its fruitiness. Finish: long, endless. Roasted coffee, plums, black licorice, hints of Havana and gingerbread, all the flavors combine to create a warm and cozy. Oily, it extends the vanillebourbon, chocolate, cardamom and dried apricots.
