Clynelish 14 Years

A delightfully complex spicy and perfumed nose, with some floral and malty hints.

The palate is multi-layered too, with some slight citrus hints on a honey background with peat and delicious spices before a honey finish with a trace of brine.

The successor to the now-silent Brora, built opposite the original distillery and producing a top-quality rich, smoky dram. One of the best entry-level proprietary bottlings available from any distillery.

Hazzz

A pungent, spicy and very balanced whiskey. A splash of lemon flavor that made it melted in the mouth. Very affordable.

I tasted this with my friends this weekend. We usually meet up and have a great three course dinner. This was no exception. As the dinner started quite late this time we tried some new whiskies after the starter which was a chili salad! I wondered how this would end but the salad had a mild taste. We did a tasting of

* Caol Ila 12 YO
* Clynelish 14YO
* Talisker 10YO
* Dalmore Mackenzie 17YO
* Glenfiddish 12 YO

The tasting notes for the other whiskies can be found on the corresponding pages.

Nose
Lovely nose, like a light soul vanilla. Some ringing tone of sharpness (getting poetic here…)

Tongue
Some lemon and citrus.

Finish
Some oak. This was one of my favourite during the evening together with the Dalmore Mackenzie.

Have you tasted the whisky? What do do think about it?
