Ardbeg Ten Years Old is a very special bottling for the Ardbeg distillery as it is the first non-chill filtered whisky in the Ardbeg range. Chill filtering isn`t a bad thing, in fact it created real consistency of product when the whisky industry was a little more `hap-hazard` than it is today. Ardbeg Ten Years Old is whisky with none of the goodness taken out and as good as straight from the cask.

Ardbeg 10 Years, 7.7 out of 10 based on 3 ratings

Nose: Sweet peat, coal, Caramac bars, a faint floral soapy note, pepper and chilli. You know you're in for a treat. Palate: Very soft, mellow entry, then the spices and peat come through in a big way. Powerful, but with a balancing sweetness. Great length. Finish: Long and warming, with the smoke and pepper lasting longest. Comment: It's easy to see why this is so popular - spicy, sweet, and above all smoky. A great dram, well-balanced and with a lot going on.

Taste: Lots of peat. Very smooth with a lightly smoky finish, Sweet and fresh-tasting while still being heavy on the peat.

Nose: Peat. Almost no alcohol burn. Wet grass.

Palate :P eat attack. Licking wooden bench in the park during a rain. Fresh cut grass, earthy. Pepper, and something sweet.

Ok, but I cannot give more than a 6. Ardbeg though is always a Ardbeg.
