Yamazaki Distillery (山崎蒸留所) is a Japanese whisky distillery located in the outskirts of Japan’s acient capital of Kyoto, Shimamoto, Osaka and is owned by Suntory. It was founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii (the founder of Suntory) and was Japan’s first whisky distillery.
7,000 bottles of unblended malt whisky are on display in the ‘Whisky Library’.
Today the distillery is the most popular single malt whisky in Japan.
The Yamazaki range of whiskies are single malts from 10 to 18YO. They also produce a blended 17YO.
